Kiosk Deployment
Deploy your virtual assistant to a MetaHuman kiosk – a full-screen installation with a photorealistic avatar powered by Unreal Engine.
The MetaHuman Kiosk is a physical installation that presents your virtual being as a full-screen, photorealistic avatar powered by Unreal Engine. It supports voice interaction, face detection, and hardware integrations like RFID/NFC scanners and QR code cameras.
Prerequisites
Before deploying a kiosk, make sure you have:
- A published Pipeline (or at least one active version)
- A Profile configured with MetaHuman Kiosk as the touchpoint
- A Metahuman avatar selected in your Persona (other avatar types are not supported for kiosk)
- Compatible kiosk hardware – see hardware requirements below
Hardware requirements
The kiosk app runs on Windows. Minimum recommended specs:
- GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3070 or equivalent (required for real-time Metahuman rendering)
- RAM: 16 GB
- Storage: 50 GB SSD
- OS: Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit)
- Camera: Required for face detection
- Optional: RFID/NFC reader, QR code scanner, barcode scanner
Setting up the Profile
- In your Dashboard, go to Overview and open or create a Profile
- Set the touchpoint to MetaHuman Kiosk
- Configure all the necessary settings (refer to Configure -> Profiles for detailed information)
Installing the kiosk app
- Download the latest kiosk version installer from https://download.virbe.ai/kiosk
- Run the installer on the kiosk hardware
- Start Virbe's Unreal application
- Select "I have my own Virbe" option
- Enter the Configuration Link from the Deployment tab when prompted
- The app connects to Virbe and loads the current active pipeline
The kiosk app auto-updates when you publish a new version of your Pipeline – no reinstallation required.
Kiosk-specific Pipeline features
The kiosk touchpoint unlocks capabilities not available in the web widget:
- On face-detected Handler – fires when the camera detects someone approaching, allowing the avatar to initiate the conversation before the user speaks
- EPC Tag Decode node – decodes RFID/NFC EPC tags from a scanner for product lookups or access control
- Defocus handling – the
On conversation-stopHandler fires when the user walks away (defocus timeout)
For retail and event kiosk use cases with RFID scanning and product lookups, see the Use Cases section.
