Context Nodes
Context nodes read and write data within the conversation – variables and Knowledge Base Table records.
Reading and Writing Data
Anything a flow needs to remember beyond the current turn – or look up from structured data – goes through a context node. User variables in particular persist across an end user's entire history with your virtual being, not just the current session.
Nodes in This Category
| Node | Description |
|---|---|
| Check Variable | Read a variable's current value and route the conversation based on what it finds. |
| Store Variable | Write a value to a user or conversation variable, making it available to downstream nodes and future conversations. |
| Find Records | Query a Knowledge Base table document and retrieve rows matching a filter; store results in a variable for use downstream. |
Working with Variables and Records
Store Variable and Check Variable form the basic read/write pattern for conversation state – store a value once (e.g., a user's name or preference), then check it later to branch or personalize responses. Find Records goes further, querying structured data from a Knowledge Base Table (e.g., a product catalog or FAQ list) and storing the matching rows in a variable, which can then be displayed with a Cards from Variable node or read by an LLM.
