Virbe Documentation

Text

Send a fixed text message to the user. The simplest response node – deterministic, fast, and always says exactly what you write.

The Text node sends a pre-written message to the user. The response is always exactly what you type – no AI generation, no variation. Use it anywhere you need a guaranteed, consistent output.

Available in: Conversational Flows, Automations.

Configuration

FieldDescription
MessageThe text sent to the user. Supports plain text.

Variable interpolation

You can reference variables inline using the "Insert field" action or typing the variable name in double curly braces:

Hello, {{user.name}}! Your order number is {{conversation.orderId}}.

At runtime, Virbe replaces the placeholder with the current value of that variable. If the variable has no value yet, the placeholder is replaced with an empty string – so write your message so it still makes sense when the value is missing, or use a Check Variable node upstream to ensure the value exists before this node runs.

When to use Text vs LLM Response

Use Text when:

  • The response should always be identical – greetings, confirmations, error messages, legal disclaimers
  • The content is short and does not require AI generation
  • You need predictable behaviour for testing or branching logic
  • You need to handle LLM error scenarios

Use LLM Response when:

  • The response should be natural, contextual, or vary based on the conversation
  • You want the AI to synthesise an answer from context

Text nodes are faster and cheaper than LLM nodes – they make no API calls to an AI provider.

Example

A simple greeting at the start of a conversation:

Hi! I'm Aria, your virtual assistant. How can I help you today?

Or an error fallback when a webhook fails:

Sorry, I wasn't able to retrieve that information right now. Please try again in a moment or contact our support team.
