Open Web View
Opens a URL in an embedded web view within the chat widget, allowing users to interact with external content inline.
The Open Web View node opens a specified URL inside the chat widget as an embedded web view. Instead of redirecting the user to a new tab or external browser, the content is displayed directly within the conversation interface. This is useful for showing forms, maps, booking systems, payment pages, or any external content that the user should interact with without leaving the widget.
Configuration
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Type | URL – load a web page. HTML – render embed code you provide directly. |
| Url (Type: URL) | The URL to load in the web view. Can be static or built dynamically using variable values via Insert field. |
| HTML (Embed code) (Type: HTML) | Raw HTML rendered in the web view – e.g. an embed script from a third-party widget. |
| Fullscreen | When enabled, the web view takes up the full screen instead of a smaller embedded panel |
| Close after inactivity? (Type: URL only) | When enabled, the web view closes automatically after a period of inactivity, set via Close after |
| Close after | (When the toggle above is on) The inactivity duration – a value plus a unit (e.g. 20 Seconds) – before the web view auto-closes |
| Override default settings | Reveals additional display options, briefly: Transparent, Display close button, Close on outside click?, Allow redirect (window.open), Disable on-screen keyboard |
Example URL with a variable:
https://acme.com/product/{{variable.productId}}Positioning
This node controls what is loaded, not where it appears on screen. On kiosk deployments, the web view's on-screen position and size are configured separately, in the Kiosk profile's Advanced UI Settings → Customize UI position (Web View offsets).
When to Use
- Forms – Open a contact form, registration form, or feedback survey inline
- Booking / reservation – Show a calendar booking tool without sending the user to another tab
- Product pages – Display a product detail page or configurator in context
- Payment – Embed a payment form for in-conversation checkout
- Maps – Show a store locator or directions map
Typical Pattern
Text ("Here's our booking calendar:")
│
└──► Open Web View (https://acme.com/book?user={{variable.email}})For Type: URL, the page loaded must support being embedded in an iframe (i.e., it must not send X-Frame-Options: DENY or Content-Security-Policy: frame-ancestors 'none' headers). Many external services restrict iframe embedding for security reasons. This restriction doesn't apply to Type: HTML, since you provide the embed code directly.
